Cooking

  • Never wear loose fitting clothing that could catch fire while reaching across the stove.
  • Keep the cooking are clean and uncluttered
  • Unplug electrical appliances when not in use.
  • Never leave cooking unattended.
  • If a fire breaks out in a microwave oven, keep the door closed and unplug the unit. (if safely can be done) Don’t try to remove the burning containers from a microwave.
  • If a fire breaks out in a frying pan or pot, do not attempt to remove it from the stove, turn off the heat under it and cover it with a lid.

Loose Fitting Clothes

Close-fitting clothing

Wear close-fitting clothing, especially sleeves, when you cook or use matches. Loose floppy sleeves, baggy sweaters, and robes catch fire easily.
