Toasters,
hair dryers, electric blankets and other everyday appliances cook for you,
groom you and warm you. But they can also kill you.
Overheating, unusual smells, electrical shorts and
sparks are all warnings that household appliances need to be replaced or
repaired. Be sure you follow manufacturers' safety precautions.
Leave appliances
like hair dryers unplugged when not in use, especially if there are small
children in the house. Use safety caps to cover all outlets, including those
on extension cords.
