Smoke Detectors
bulletRemember : Having a working Smoke detector on each floor of your home more than DOUBLES one's chance to survive a fire.

Smoke detectors - They're Real Protectors!

Most fire fatalities are a direct result of not having a WORKING smoke detector.

*Many smoke detectors are inexpensive (In the range 05 $5 to $20)

*This could determine the factor in loved ones living or perishing in a fire.

Reported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's U. S. Fire Administration (FEMA):

Most fire fatalities occur in the middle of the night when residents are asleep. More than 4,000 Americans die each year in fires and approximately 25,000 are injured. These numbers do not include emergency personnel. An overwhelming number of fires occur in the home. There are time tested ways to prevent and survive a fire. Remember it's not a question of luck, It's a matter of planning ahead.

Safety Tips to Remember:

1. Install a smoke detector on each level of your home
2.Never disable a smoke detector when it sounds.
3. Know what to do if a detector sounds.
4. Plan a home escape route in the event of a fire.

Smoke detectors can be purchased at hardware or home center store, and in many leading  department stores.

Smoke detectors should be tested at least once a month. The batteries should be replaced at least twice a year when you change your clocks. (Daylight Savings Time)

Smoke detectors provide early warning and increase your chance for survival and allow additional time for the fire department to save your property.
